The CIRP Freshman Survey (Cooperative Institutional Research Program) is distributed each fall to over 500,000 new freshmen in colleges and universities across the United States. Beginning in 1991, the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities has participated in this national study on an every-other-year basis. The survey is completed during the fall semester orientation process by new first-year students on the Twin Cities campus. The Office of Institutional Research and Reporting receives campus results, as well as the results for a comparison group of similar institutions. Overall results are reported in higher education publications such as the Chronicle of Higher Education, and newspapers across the country. The survey is administered by the Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California - Los Angeles. More information can be found on the CIRP website.
